Treatments: Addiction Medicine
What is addiction medicine?
Addiction Medicine is a specialty of healthcare that deals with managing problems arising from alcohol and drug use, including cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, nicotine, LSD, PCP, inhalants, and marijuana.
Alcohol, methamphetamine or narcotic use can become problematic and lead to severe deterioration in quality of life and relationships and ability to function.
Addictions are treatable disorders, and the prognosis for them is actually very good, with adequate treatment.
Dr. Oddy is certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine and has over 10 years experience in the management of addictions.
Dr. Oddy specifically can assist in the management of opiate dependence with Suboxone (please review page on Suboxone), and the management of alcohol dependence. He is experienced with newer medications that can help alcohol dependence including acamprosate (Campral), and naltrexone (Revia or Vivitrol).
Dr. Oddy has extensive experience and skills in the diagnosis and treatment of Co-Occurring or Dual Disorders, i.e. psychiatric illness and addictions when they co-occur. These disorders often do co-occur and can interfere with clarifying accurate diagnoses and development of a successful treatment plan and recovery.
Please call our office and find out if Dr. Oddy is able to help you with your concerns about addictive disorders, including substance abuse or dependence.
