The Doctor – Patient Relationship

Dr. Richard A. Oddy | Resume

Psychiatrists have been pressured to rely more often on medications prescribed during very brief visits, a “prescription” recommended by managed care insurance and pharmaceutical companies.

However, Dr. Oddy views the relationship as central to treatment and recovery. Without time and attention to the meaning of patients ’ suffering, medication-based treatments in the end can fall short.

Dr. Oddy does not compromise on the time or attention needed to evaluate or treat his patients’ or families’ symptoms or difficulties.
